Registration is open!
After you have registered for IGF 2020, you can view a new interactive schedule that enables you to select the sessions you want to attend. If you haven't registered yet, you can view the schedule as a PDF or spreadsheet available from this IGF 2020 schedule page.
The list of registered participants is also available.
Learn how to use the online platform for this year’s virtual IGF
The IGF Secretariat is holding a webinar, in two time slots, for session organizers, speakers and remote hub organisers to learn about the functionalities of the online platform available for IGF 2020. But any interested IGF participant is also welcome to attend:
- 12 October, 8:00-9:30 UTC
- 14 October, 14:00-15:30 UTC
Are you a session organizer?
Remember to update information about your session with any changes to speakers, or format (if you need to adjust the format due to the all-online nature of this year’s IGF). To do this, log into the IGF website, then go to your session page, and you will see an option to edit your session’s details.
Session organisers: make sure you take advantage of a new field in the session form, “About this session” to provide a clear, concise description designed to make it easy for participants to see how interesting and relevant your session is for them to attend.
Detailed information has been sent to session organisers with information on how to prepare for their sessions, including information about how to host your session via the online platform and tips for publicising your session.
IGF News
- 3 September: the Options Paper for the Future of Global Digital Cooperation was published by the co-champions of Recommendation 5A/B by the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation.
- 23-30 September: The MAG Chair is convening a series of online discussions, IGF strategy and strengthening in 2020 (more discussions follow in October). For more information on the September and early October online discussions, see the key dates and deadlines at the end of this newsletter.
Intersessional Activities
With IGF 2020 getting closer and closer, why not join a Best Practice Forum (BPF) or a Dynamic Coalition (DC) and help contribute to their important policy-related work?
New drafts from the BPF on Cybersecurity:
- Work Stream 1 has published a research paper on best practices in relation to international cybersecurity agreements
- Work Stream 2 has published a paper, What Cybersecurity Policymaking Can Learn from Normative Principles in Global Governance (useful background reading for Work Stream 1 activities)
Don’t miss these BPF public input deadlines:
- 20 September: survey on IGF and regional and national discussions on gender-based violence, harm, pleasure and consent online by the BPF on Gender and Access
- 25 September: call for case studies by the BPF Data and New Technologies in an Internet Context
- 17 October: call for contributions to collect additional input for BPF on Cybersecurity Work Stream 1 (international cybersecurity agreements)
For Your Action!
Consider hosting or participating in a remote hub.
