Description:
This workshop will explore Lebanon's innovative approaches to multistakeholder Internet governance, highlighting the successful collaboration between Government, Private Sector, Civil Society, Academia and the Technical Community to fortify digital trust and governance. Reflecting on Lebanon's experience, we will delve into the mechanisms of enhancing a secure, open, and inclusive Internet landscape, focusing on the dynamic interplay of policy, technology, and community engagement. We aim to showcase how Lebanon is trying to navigate complex challenges in cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and social media regulation, demonstrating tangible impacts and learned lessons from the previous Lebanon IGF sessions. Moreover, the workshop will consider the ethical dimensions and public good in Internet behaviours, emphasising the need for transparency, consent, and ethical regulation in data usage, as highlighted in the Lebanon IGF 2023 on "Internet of Behaviours" and "Accountability of Social Media". Participants will engage in an interactive dialogue to understand the multifaceted aspects of digital governance and how Lebanon's successful approach can be a model for other similar countries.
The session will provide a comprehensive understanding of Lebanon's multistakeholder approach and foster dialogue on adopting similar models in the Middle East Region and Africa to enhance Internet security and trust. Expected outputs include a session report and actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
Hybrid Format: The session will be an interactive discussion between the onsite moderator and Speakers for 40 minutes, followed by an online moderated 10 minutes Q & A and 5 minutes of Closing remarks by speakers.
